The 5th Aloha Abacus
and Mental Arithmetic national level competition
2008 a day that every Aloha student has
been awaiting, was being held at the convention
hall, Chennai trade centre complex, Chennai
on 28th December 2008.
Over 1500 enthusiastic students from various
states all across India along with more
than 2000 parents, Master franchisees, District
franchisees, Unit Franchisees, Master Trainers,
Course Instructors, well wishers & friends
had converged at the Chennai trade centre
complex, giving a look of a carnival with
fanfare & festivities. It was a mega
event in size, style and comfort. Aloha
India had provided free pick up & drop
to the venue from their hotel where the
staying arrangements were done. Thousands
of parents were able to watch the competition
live on the big screen place inside the
air conditioned parents waiting hall, interspersed
with some interesting infotainment. The
competition was inaugurated by out chief
guest from Malaysia Mr Loh and Mr &
Mrs Chin. The first batch started with registration
by 10.30 am and concluded by 2.00 pm with
the final batch. The correction, rechecking
and tabulation were done with utmost care
and precision.
The prize distribution ceremony was a glittering
function and it started around 4.00 pm.
It started off with a scintillating bharatanatyam
performance on “skates”, a unique
feature by one of the students of Pondicherry
centre, 11 year old Kasirajan. This was
followed by the lighting of the lamp by
our chief guest and our guest of honour
helped by Mr K Kumaran and Mrs Renuka Kumaran
.A prayer song to invoke the blessings of
almighty was rendered by Mrs. Meenakshi.
The speciality of this year’s event
was the signing ceremony of two countries,
one is Nigeria and the other is Spain. Our
guest of honor Mrs. Francis Ubanaga Okeke
from Nigeria & Mrs. Kiran Motwani from
Spain signed the MOU for their respective
countries in the presence of Mr. Loh, -
Founder / President Aloha International,
Malaysia.
Around 350 trophies were given including
some special awards namely Zhusuan award
of achievement, Zhusuan award for the best
learning centre, Zhusuan award for the best
course instructors etc. The event was wonderfully
compered by Mr.Gururaj, Chief Moderator
accompanied with Mrs.Tejaswi Kale in the
morning session and Mrs.Meenakshi, in the
evening session.
The participated students performed well
and came out with flying colors bringing
laurels not only to their state but also
to Aloha India.
